In the gardens of the royal palace, Krishna relaxes on a swing with Radha, his beloved companion. This painting by an artist from Orissa, makes a rich use of vegetable colors and dyes, to brush in the soft-petalled lotuses in the pond, the muted colors of the pea-hen and the soft, rustling folds of the long skirts worn by the gopis who have gathered to gaze on the divine lovers.
